“Top Liverpool star edging nearer to departure as league leaders show strong interest”

Liverpool are preparing to part ways with several players this summer, either due to them not fitting into Arne Slot’s plans or seeking more regular playing time elsewhere.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Darwin Nunez has become a primary target for Napoli as they aim to bolster their attacking lineup. The Serie A side, led by sporting director Giovanni Manna, are actively pursuing reinforcements for their frontline.

Nunez is at the heart of growing transfer speculation, with interest coming from across Europe and Saudi Arabia. Despite Liverpool’s recent Premier League title, the Uruguayan forward’s future at Anfield is increasingly uncertain.

Since arriving from Benfica for £85 million in 2022, Nunez has struggled to consistently perform and has spent much of the current season on the bench. This reduced role has sparked rumors of an exit.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested, with Diego Simeone said to be a strong admirer. Liverpool are open to letting him go for around €45 million. Meanwhile, Saudi clubs such as Al Hilal and Al Nassr are also in the race, with Al Hilal ready to offer a lucrative contract.

It appears likely that Nunez will leave the Premier League, with potential moves to Serie A or La Liga on the table. Napoli, who have secured Champions League football next season, see him as a valuable addition to their squad.

Uruguayan legend and former Liverpool star Luis Suarez has heaped praise on Nunez, calling him “one of the best centre-forwards in the world,” and expressing admiration for his style of play.

Additionally, Harvey Elliott may also seek a move away from Anfield after struggling for consistent minutes this season.
