Diogo Jota’s Car Crash on Spanish Road Called ‘One of the Worst Ever Seen’

Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota, along with his younger brother and Penafiel player Andre Silva, tragically lost their lives in a fatal car accident. The crash occurred on a stretch of road in Zamora, northern Spain, which has previously been labeled as “one of the worst” in the country.

Jota, 28, originally from Gondomar, was on a post-season holiday after helping Liverpool clinch the Premier League title. He was heading back to the UK just two weeks after marrying his childhood love, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.

The incident took place when Jota’s Lamborghini suffered a flat tyre while overtaking on the A-52 near Cernadilla, close to the Portuguese border, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. Emergency responders confirmed both fatalities at the scene early Thursday morning.

“A Medical Emergency Unit (UME) and the Primary Care Medical Team (MAP) from Mombuey Health Center were dispatched and confirmed the deaths of both individuals,” authorities reported, mourning the loss of the Liverpool star and his brother.
