Crystal Palace eye Liverpool star in potential swap deal for Marc Guehi.
The situation surrounding Marc Guehi’s future has taken another turn, with reports indicating that Crystal Palace may be open to letting the England defender join Liverpool—on the condition that Joe Gomez heads to Selhurst Park on a season-long loan.
According to the BBC, Palace are exploring the idea of including Gomez as part of the transfer deal.
Liverpool are keen to bolster their defense before the transfer window closes, identifying Guehi as a key target. Some reports claim the Reds have already submitted a £35 million bid.
In response, Palace are reportedly seeking a sweeter deal—demanding £5 million in add-ons and a 10% sell-on clause.
Palace are looking to part ways with Guehi this summer. With just a year left on his contract, the club faces the risk of losing him for free in 2026 if no agreement is reached.
Guehi is said to have already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, leaving the two clubs to finalize the terms of the transfer.
Palace’s interest in Gomez coincides with the defender’s lack of playing time at Anfield. The 28-year-old has managed only 18 minutes of action this season, coming off the bench in Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Bournemouth and not featuring against Newcastle.
However, Liverpool are hesitant to include Gomez in the deal. New manager Arne Slot reportedly values his experience and leadership and would prefer a cash-only arrangement for Guehi.
Meanwhile, Palace are also considering other defensive options, including Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, though the Swiss international is reportedly not sold on a move to Selhurst Park.
With Guehi’s contract winding down and Liverpool pushing to seal the deal, the coming days could be crucial in determining the defender’s future.
