Liverpool have agreed to pay a British-record transfer fee to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

After a summer filled with speculation, the high-profile transfer is finally nearing completion on deadline day. Isak is set to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of a move reportedly worth £130 million.

The 25-year-old has long expressed his desire to join Liverpool, even going as far as refusing to play for Newcastle in an effort to push the move through.

Liverpool had an initial £110 million bid turned down but were always expected to return with a higher offer before the transfer window closed at 7 p.m. on September 1. They eventually submitted a £130 million proposal, factoring in solidarity payments, as reported by The Athletic.

The Reds are expected to pay £125 million directly—setting a new Premier League transfer record, overtaking Enzo Fernández’s £106 million transfer from Benfica to Chelsea in 2023.

While Newcastle appeared reluctant to sell without securing a replacement, they recently completed the signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a £69 million deal, paving the way for Isak’s departure.
