Jurgen Klopp Plays Role as Liverpool Star Nears Move to New Club
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly played a part in advising Harvey Elliott on his future ahead of a potential summer transfer.
The 22-year-old midfielder has found first-team opportunities limited at Anfield, and he now appears to be closing in on a permanent move to Aston Villa. According to journalist Indy Kaila, Klopp—who now holds a position with Red Bull—offered Elliott guidance on his next steps.
Kaila posted on X: “Harvey Elliott took advice from Jurgen Klopp before making move to @AVFCOfficial once RB Leipzig were out of the picture. Harvey Elliott has a significant connection with Jürgen Klopp.”
Elliott, once considered a rising star after emerging at Fulham, showed flashes of quality at Liverpool but never fully broke through as a regular starter. With the arrival of Florian Wirtz adding to the competition for places, Elliott’s decision to seek more consistent minutes elsewhere is understandable.
Aston Villa may offer the ideal environment for his development, especially under the leadership of Unai Emery, who has a track record of nurturing young talent and helping players rediscover their form.
While some Liverpool supporters may be disappointed to see Elliott leave, many will likely appreciate his need for regular football and wish him success in what could still be a promising Premier League career.
