Slot explains why Isak won’t feature in every match following record-breaking Liverpool transfer.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that new signing Alexander Isak will be eased into action following his club-record £125 million move from Newcastle United on deadline day.

The Swedish striker, who netted 27 goals last season, is seen as a major coup by Slot, who called securing the deal his biggest achievement of the summer. Despite the excitement, the manager emphasized that Isak won’t play a full 90 minutes in every match right away.

“He deserves huge credit – we’ve signed one of the world’s best strikers,” Slot said. “But if we push him to play back-to-back full games now, there’s a real risk of injury.”

Slot explained that Isak’s limited pre-season involvement means his fitness must be managed carefully. He also thanked Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson for handling the player responsibly during the international break.

“Don’t expect him to play every game for 90 minutes in the next few weeks,” Slot added. “We signed him for six years, not just the next couple of weeks – we have to be smart.”

Isak himself admitted he’s not yet fully fit but has shown strong commitment by returning early from international duty to begin training.

Liverpool have already brought in Hugo Ekitike, who has impressed early on, meaning Isak won’t need to be rushed. Slot also noted that he hasn’t had many conversations with the 25-year-old yet due to international commitments, but he’s already well aware of the forward’s talent.

With the arrivals of Isak and Florian Wirtz this summer, Liverpool have assembled one of Europe’s most dynamic and costly attacking lineups. Slot, however, is focused on ensuring the record signing is properly prepared to deliver over the long term.
