At the same time, things have not been entirely smooth at Anfield either, with Arne Slot enduring a more difficult campaign than his title-winning debut season and facing increasing scrutiny.

The report claims Liverpool are monitoring Alonso’s situation, though they are not alone, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich also alert to his availability. The 44-year-old earned widespread praise at Leverkusen, guiding the club to their first-ever Bundesliga title and reaching the Europa League final in the 2023/24 season.
Alonso’s pedigree is also exceptional as a player, having won the Champions League with both Liverpool and Real Madrid, along with numerous other major honours at club level, including spells with Bayern Munich.
Should Liverpool decide to move on from Slot, Alonso would likely be a hugely popular appointment among supporters.
