Deal completed: Liverpool confirm the January arrival of a dynamic winger who has scored 24 goals.

Liverpool Women have confirmed the January signing of SC Freiburg winger Aurélie Csillag.
The Swiss attacker becomes the latest addition to Gareth Taylor’s squad, following the arrivals of Anna Josendal from Hammarby and Martha Thomas on loan from Tottenham. The Reds currently sit bottom of the Women’s Super League table, having failed to register a win and collecting just four points from 12 matches, and will be hoping Csillag can provide a much-needed attacking spark.
The signing was officially announced on the club’s website on Monday afternoon.
Liverpool’s 2025/26 campaign has been a difficult one so far, with the side managing just eight goals in the WSL — the second-lowest tally in the division, ahead of only Leicester City.

There is optimism that Csillag can help revitalise a forward line that has struggled badly in front of goal. Her underlying numbers, highlighted by FBref, suggest she could add real attacking threat.

Csillag spent the first half of the season with Freiburg, scoring three goals and providing one assist across 13 Frauen-Bundesliga appearances — averaging a goal contribution every 117.75 minutes.
Before her move to Germany, the left winger netted 16 goals in 49 games over three seasons with FC Basel. Including her time at Grasshopper, she now boasts 24 career goals at club level.
The 22-year-old has also made it clear she can operate across the front line, offering Taylor valuable flexibility.
“I come as a striker or as a winger, so I can score goals, go one-v-one and outrun my opponents,” Csillag told Liverpool’s official website. “Those are my strengths.”
