Liverpool star ready to take a pay cut to secure a January move away

Juventus are reportedly lining up what’s being billed as a final push to persuade Liverpool to sell Federico Chiesa before the January transfer window shuts, according to Calciomercato.
The Serie A giants have identified the Italy international as a leading target this month, believing there’s a rare chance to bring him back to Italy for a relatively modest fee. Liverpool initially knocked back interest, viewing Chiesa as useful cover during Mohamed Salah’s absence at the Africa Cup of Nations.
That position could now change, though, with Salah expected back at Anfield following Egypt’s early exit. Italian sources claim Liverpool would be open to a deal worth around €15 million, aligning with a broader plan to offload fringe players and reinvest elsewhere.
Chiesa has found opportunities limited under Arne Slot and is eager for a reset. Juventus have been encouraged after the winger reportedly gave his approval for a return to Serie A, where he enjoyed his most productive spells with Fiorentina and Juve.
Despite hoping to stake a claim in Salah’s absence, Chiesa has largely remained on the margins, registering just two goals in 16 Premier League appearances, most of them from the bench.
The 27-year-old is now actively pushing for a January move, determined to revive his career and re-establish himself as a regular for Italy ahead of the 2026 World Cup. To help get the deal over the line, he is also said to be prepared to take a pay cut, underlining how keen he is to complete the transfer.
