Troy Deeney Urges Liverpool to Sell Mohamed Salah Amid Marseille Win

Troy Deeney has made a bold claim that Liverpool should part ways with Mohamed Salah before the January transfer window closes, despite the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Marseille on Wednesday.

The team delivered a composed performance at the notoriously hostile Stade Velodrome, with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, and an own goal caused by Jeremie Frimpong moving Liverpool into fourth in their Champions League group.

However, his performance against Marseille was underwhelming—he missed a big chance, only completed 13 passes, and lost possession nine times in 28 touches.

Liverpool’s tactics have evolved under Slot, moving away from a system built around Salah. The team now rotates attacks between players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Szoboszlai, with greater defensive contributions expected from all positions. This balanced approach has strengthened both their defensive structure and overall team cohesion, allowing Liverpool to aim higher in domestic and European competitions.
