Concern for Liverpool as report reveals star player’s massive contract demands

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is said to be pushing for a significant pay rise as part of any new contract at Anfield.

The Hungarian international has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers this season, and many supporters would agree that he has earned improved terms, with retaining him seen as a priority for the club. However, reports suggest his wage demands could be substantial.

According to Hungarian outlet Blikk, Szoboszlai is seeking a salary of up to £300,000 per week. Anfield Watch adds that he currently earns between £120,000 and £150,000 weekly, meaning a new deal could more than double his current wages.

Should Liverpool meet Szoboszlai’s demands?
While Liverpool will be keen to secure Szoboszlai’s long-term future, agreeing to such a high salary could present a challenge. Anfield Watch notes that a £300,000-a-week contract would see him earn more than Alexander Isak.

Given Szoboszlai’s impressive performances this season, some may feel those demands are justified—especially as he has arguably outshone Isak. That said, questions remain over whether he has done enough consistently over a longer period to warrant a place in that elite wage bracket.

Szoboszlai’s influence this season has been clear. The 25-year-old has already recorded eight goals and six assists from midfield, equalling his goal tally from last season. Now entering his prime, he looks capable of succeeding at the highest level, whether at Liverpool or elsewhere.

His versatility has also been a major asset, with Szoboszlai performing well across multiple midfield roles and even deputising effectively at right-back under Arne Slot.
