Paul Joyce has outlined when Isak might be available again for Liverpool, offering insight into his expected return date.

Liverpool’s injury situation is starting to improve, and there’s now a clearer indication of when Alexander Isak could return to action under Arne Slot.

According to Paul Joyce in The Times, the 26-year-old striker is aiming to be back around the end of next month as he continues his recovery from a broken leg and ankle injury.

That timeline is significant with a Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest on the horizon and fixtures piling up as Liverpool push to climb the table.

Slot has avoided setting a firm return date but confirmed the Swede has taken an important step forward, revealing that Isak has been back on the pitch this week for running work. The plan, based on Slot’s comments and Joyce’s report, is for him to potentially rejoin full training around the March international break, with late March or early April viewed as realistic—provided there are no setbacks.

However, Slot stressed that returning to the pitch is just the beginning. Isak still needs to progress to ball work, then reintegrate with the squad, before match readiness becomes realistic.

Encouragingly, Slot believes the striker will feature again this season if recovery stays on track, keeping him in contention for the run-in.

Isak’s time at Liverpool so far has been disrupted. Without a proper pre-season and while adapting to a new squad, he was already playing catch-up before December’s serious injury halted his momentum. Even so, he managed 3 goals and 1 assist in 16 appearances (781 minutes), including a goal in his final outing before the setback.
Slot also acknowledged that Liverpool have yet to see the very best of Isak but remains confident that both the club and supporters will in the future.
