David Ornstein has played down growing speculation that Liverpool FC are preparing to replace Arne Slot with Xabi Alonso, stressing that the club’s leadership remains firmly behind the current manager.

Despite a disappointing Premier League campaign, where Liverpool have suffered 10 defeats, the message from Anfield is one of patience and long-term planning rather than panic.

Reports from BILD claimed that Michael Edwards has stayed in touch with Alonso, hinting at a possible return to Merseyside next season. However, Ornstein has clarified that such speculation does not reflect the reality within the club.

Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, he emphasized that Liverpool have no intention of changing managers and are instead focused on building the right squad to help Slot succeed.

Internally, there is no discussion about sacking him, even with recent poor results. The club continues to plan ahead with Slot in charge, aiming to support him with the right players.
