Liverpool fans erupt in frustration over the club’s first tweet following Mo Salah’s contract revelation.

Liverpool fans have been left reeling after the club’s first tweet following Mo Salah’s bombshell update on his contract situation sparked outrage.

On Sunday, Salah scored twice, including the decisive goal, as Liverpool secured a 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton, extending their lead over Manchester City to eight points at the top of the Premier League. The 32-year-old has been in stellar form this season, netting 12 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions, showing no signs of decline in his eighth season at Anfield.

However, Salah’s post-match revelation overshadowed the win. Out of contract next summer, along with teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Egyptian forward admitted there have been no discussions about a renewal. He hinted at the possibility of leaving, saying:

Liverpool have yet to officially respond to Salah’s remarks, but their next tweet, promoting a Lana Del Rey concert at Anfield on June 28, 2025, drew significant backlash from fans.

One fan replied: “Don’t care, how about give Mo Salah what he wants.”
Another commented: “They could not have chosen a worse day to announce this.”
A third joked: “But will Salah perform at Anfield next season, though?”

Other fans were more critical, with one writing: “It’s quite a look releasing this on the club’s official feed while video emerges of the club’s best player saying he’s disappointed he hasn’t been offered a new contract despite winning the game for them less than 24 hours ago.” Another added: “Use the money from this to pay Mo whatever he wants.”

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored a remarkable 223 goals in 367 appearances, winning every major trophy with the club. Despite his achievements, rumors of a potential move persist, with Al Ittihad reportedly having a £150 million bid for him rejected in September 2023.
