Liverpool fans notice Virgil van Dijk’s reaction during Mohamed Salah’s headline-making interview in newly released footage.
New footage has surfaced revealing how Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk reacted when he saw Mohamed Salah speaking to the media.
Salah, 32, scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-2 win at St Mary’s, helping the Reds extend their lead over Manchester City to eight points at the top of the Premier League table. His brace brought his season tally to 10 goals and six assists in just 12 league games.
However, it was Salah’s post-match comments that grabbed headlines. The forward admitted he was “probably more out than in” when asked if Liverpool had offered him a new contract.
Salah is one of three key Liverpool players with contracts expiring after the 2024/25 season, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk, whose futures remain uncertain. Van Dijk, who faced his former club in the match, couldn’t resist reacting when he spotted Salah speaking to reporters outside the Players’ Entrance at St Mary’s.
As Salah answered questions, Van Dijk casually approached, smirking as he caught the Egyptian’s eye. Salah appeared to find the moment amusing as well.
Fans quickly weighed in on social media. One commented: “Mo’s body language changed when VVD showed up, like he got caught doing something he shouldn’t have.”
Another wrote: “What a mess by LFC. Poor summer signings, no midfield reinforcements, and now potentially losing legends. Replacing them would cost more than new contracts. Get it sorted!”
A third added: “If Mo, Virgil, and Trent leave, it’ll be disastrous for FSG. The team depends on them – we can’t lose any of them.”
Meanwhile, a fourth suggested: “Virg probably knows something. There’s no way our captain isn’t in the loop.”
