Two Real Madrid players were relentlessly booed each time they touched the ball during the match against Liverpool, and the reasons for this behavior from the fans have now become clear.

During the first half of Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield, two of their players faced continuous boos from the crowd, and fans have figured out the reason.

Real Madrid arrived in England with a weakened squad, missing key players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Daniel Carvajal due to injuries. With a young bench, manager Carlo Ancelotti also gave 21-year-old Raul Asencio his first Champions League start.

Although Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham both started the match, they were targeted with boos by Liverpool supporters. The reason for the hostility was not immediately clear, as neither player has any significant ties to Liverpool nor a history of underperforming against them. Instead, fans believe the boos stem from the frustration that Mbappe and Bellingham chose to join Real Madrid rather than Liverpool. One fan commented, “Liverpool fans booing Bellingham and Mbappe because they didn’t sign for them, deary me,” while another added, “Liverpool fans think they stood a chance to sign any of Mbappe or Bellingham.”

A third fan speculated that the boos were partly due to Bellingham being a potential factor in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s rumored move to Real Madrid, as the two are close friends.

Real Madrid entered the match with six points from their first four Champions League group stage games, while Liverpool had won all four of theirs, conceding just one goal. Despite Liverpool’s recent dominance over Real Madrid, they haven’t beaten them since a 4-0 win in the 2008/09 Champions League.
