Man City fans criticize one player after a poor first half against Liverpool.
Manchester City fans expressed frustration with one player on social media following a challenging first half against Liverpool.
Liverpool entered the match aiming to extend their lead over Pep Guardiola’s side to 11 points. New manager Arne Slot had enjoyed a remarkable start, securing 17 wins from 19 games.
In contrast, City have struggled this season. Starting the game in fourth place, they had suffered five consecutive defeats and recently squandered a 3-0 lead to draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League. The team’s issues have been attributed to various factors, including Erling Haaland’s inconsistent form and the prolonged absence of Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder Rodri due to injury.
Additionally, many fans have pointed to Kyle Walker, claiming his performances have declined. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, several fans criticized the 34-year-old England international on X (formerly Twitter).
One fan wrote: “Kyle Walker’s awareness gets worse every week.”
Another said: “Watching Kyle Walker is painful. Why does he keep starting and remain captain? It’s time to sell him.”
A third commented: “Walker losing Gakpo at the back post again—how is he not dropped?”
A fourth remarked: “Anyone who still rates Kyle Walker needs their brain studied in a lab.”
Finally, another added: “Kyle Walker must be one of the worst players in the Premier League. Truly abysmal.”
