Erik ten Hag became a major topic of discussion during Manchester United’s victory over Everton, and it was all centered around Amad Diallo.

It has been just over a month since Manchester United parted ways with Erik ten Hag, yet he remains a hot topic among fans, particularly following this weekend’s match against Everton.

United secured a dominant 4-0 victory on Sunday, with two goals each from Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee. The win marked another positive step for new manager Ruben Amorim, who had earned his first victory in charge on Thursday against Bodo/Glimt. Amorim has been quick to praise several players, including Amad Diallo, who has impressed since being deployed as a right-wing-back in their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

Speaking about Amad, Amorim said: “I think it was very good, he has improved a lot. In just three days, he’s made great strides defensively. He stayed focused throughout the game and did an excellent job.” Amad continued his strong form against Everton, providing two assists and earning widespread praise from fans.

This has reignited criticism of Ten Hag’s limited use of Amad during his tenure. Fans recalled moments like the decision to favor Antony over Amad in October’s Champions League match against Fenerbahçe, which many found baffling. What a talent we have in Amad.” Others echoed similar sentiments, lamenting Ten Hag’s choices and praising Amad’s suitability for Amorim’s system.

In response to his decisions at the time, Ten Hag defended Antony’s inclusion, saying, “Amad is doing well, but Antony has been consistently a threat in training, so I felt it was the right decision to bring him on to decide the game.” Amad was eventually substituted in after Antony’s injury, but for many fans, the decision came too late to make an

impact.
