Ruben Amorim has reportedly made renewing a specific Manchester United player’s contract a top priority.

Amorim, 39, oversaw his first Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday, where his side delivered an impressive 4-0 victory against Sean Dyche’s Everton. Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both scored twice, but it was Amad Diallo, 22, who caught the manager’s attention with a stellar performance, providing two assists.

Amad showcased his skill by dispossessing Jarrad Branthwaite, leading to Bruno Fernandes setting up Zirkzee’s first goal. Amorim praised the winger post-match, describing him as “big in talent, but small in size” and highlighting both his defensive and attacking contributions. He credited former coach Ruud van Nistelrooy for aiding Amad’s development and acknowledged the need to further improve the player’s physical stamina.

Amad, who joined United in January 2021 and had loan stints at Rangers and Sunderland, is now a regular in the first team. His current contract runs until the end of the 2024/25 season, with the club holding an option to extend it by an additional year.
