The victory, which left Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the Premier League, featured Salah playing a pivotal role—setting up Cody Gakpo’s opener with a brilliant pass and scoring the second with a penalty after Luis Díaz was fouled.

Despite speculation surrounding his future, Salah continues to deliver, boasting 13 goals in 20 appearances this season. After the match, he hinted that it might have been his final game against Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield, telling Sky Sports, “Honestly, it’s in my head. Until now, this is the last City game I will play for Liverpool, so I was just going to enjoy it.”

Salah’s comments reignited debate about his future, prompting Slot to address the topic before Liverpool’s match against Newcastle. Slot jokingly suggested Salah’s remarks were linked to City’s legal troubles: “Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 charges and expects them not to be in the Premier League next season.
