Luke Shaw has addressed Manchester United fans after reports confirmed he would not travel to London for the Premier League match against Arsenal.

The 29-year-old left-back has struggled with injuries since Euro 2024, suffering a calf issue just before the Premier League opener. Despite making three appearances this season, including 34 minutes in United’s 4-0 win over Everton last weekend, Shaw will miss the Arsenal clash due to an “unspecified problem,” according to talkSPORT.

On Tuesday evening, Shaw shared an emotional message on Instagram, acknowledging the setback:

“It’s incredibly painful to write this as I truly believed I had overcome my recent struggles and was moving forward. Sadly, I’ve faced a small setback,” Shaw wrote. “This has been the toughest period of my career, filled with ups and downs, but this moment feels especially challenging.

“I understand the frustration, anger, and disappointment this may cause, and no one feels it more than I do right now. But I promise to work tirelessly to come back stronger and help the club achieve its goals this season. Thank you to everyone for your support—it means a lot and doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Shaw’s absence adds to the selection challenges for manager Ruben Amorim, with Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof also unavailable due to injuries. Although Leny Yoro has traveled with the squad, his recent long-term absence makes a starting role unlikely. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is suspended after starting as the left center-back in United’s previous game alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

In Shaw’s stead, Diogo Dalot has been used as a left wing-back despite his natural position on the right. Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire may also be options for Amorim on the left side o
