A Juventus player has turned down a contract offer from Liverpool, according to his agent, who disclosed the approach following their victory against Manchester City.

Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio’s agent has revealed that the player rejected a more lucrative offer from Liverpool to commit to the Serie A club.

Juventus impressed in their 2-0 Champions League victory over Manchester City on Wednesday, with standout performances from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie, who scored the goals, and Di Gregorio, who denied efforts from Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.

Di Gregorio, 27, has had a challenging career path. He started at Inter Milan and was loaned out to clubs like Renate, Novara, Pordenone, and Monza before joining Monza permanently in 2022. His performances there earned him a loan move to Juventus, who are obligated to purchase him for €18.5 million plus add-ons this summer.

Speaking to Tuttosport, his agent, Carlo Alberto Belloni, explained the decision to turn down Liverpool last summer. “In the summer, we said no to Liverpool to marry the Juventus project,” Belloni said. “Michele has proven his worth at an international level, with his performance against Manchester City being unforgettable. He earned everything through talent and hard work, and I’m proud of him.”
