We imagined Paul Pogba signing with Man City, and the outcome was astonishing.

Paul Pogba’s potential transfer to Manchester City has been simulated, and the results suggest one side of Manchester could have plenty to celebrate.

The former Manchester United midfielder might join City in January after serving a reduced doping ban. Pogba will be eligible to train at the start of the year and return to action in March, offering Pep Guardiola a temporary solution for the injured Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.

But what could Pogba’s first full season at the Etihad look like? To find out, we used Football Manager to simulate a season with Pogba in the squad and Rodri sidelined. The outcome was remarkable, showcasing a stark improvement compared to City’s current struggles.

With Pogba playing a key role, City secured a domestic double, winning both the Premier League and the FA Cup. They claimed their ninth Premier League title with a four-point margin over Arsenal, finishing with 83 goals and 85 points—a tally that would have been enough to win the title only once in the last five years. However, they also lost seven games.

In the FA Cup, Jack Grealish’s goal scoring exploits led the charge, and City comfortably beat Everton 3-0 in the final at Wembley. Pogba finally lifted his first FA Cup trophy, having previously lost the 2017-18 final with Manchester United. He even scored in the final.

Arsenal, however, got their revenge in Europe, defeating City 2-1 in the Champions League final to claim their first European title. Erling Haaland topped the scoring charts in both the Premier League and FA Cup but failed to score in the Carabao Cup, where City were eliminated by Watford in the fourth round.

Pogba’s performances were outstanding, fully justifying City’s simulated gamble. He was among their top players, scoring 11 goals, providing 16 assists, and averaging a season rating of 7.27 across 43 appearances. Unsurprisingly, he earned a spot in City’s best XI alongside Kevin De Bruyne.

If City’s reported interest in Pogba becomes a reality, such numbers could justify the move. In Rodri’s absence, a rejuvenated Pogba might help Guardiola address his team’s recent struggles. However, whether City will take the plunge remai
