Carlo Ancelotti addresses criticism from Federico Valverde’s wife.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has responded to criticism directed at him by the wife of star midfielder Federico Valverde.

For those who may have missed it, Mina Bonino made headlines in Madrid on Tuesday night.

This came after her reaction to Valverde being substituted at halftime during Real Madrid’s Champions League match against AC Milan.

Amid an underwhelming performance and a 3-1 loss, the Uruguayan midfielder was pulled after just 45 minutes, later revealed to be due to a back injury.

Despite this, Valverde’s partner, Mina Bonino, took to social media to criticize Ancelotti.

On her official ‘X’ account, she posted:

“Fede plays best as a pivot… Hahaha when are they going to understand once and *** that Fede is not a winger?”

When asked about this post in a press conference after the match, Ancelotti remained diplomatic, saying:

“Valverde’s wife’s words on X? It’s difficult to give an opinion on what people write on social media. I changed Valverde because he wasn’t 100%.”
