Cole Palmer “gets annoyed” whenever his Chelsea teammate refers to him by a two-word nickname.

Cole Palmer plays with a confidence that suggests he’s unfazed by anything, but one of his Chelsea teammates claims to regularly irritate him.

Since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea in 2023, the 22-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout talents. After an impressive debut season, where he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, Palmer has carried his form into the current campaign under Enzo Maresca, recording 11 goals and six assists.

Palmer’s performances have made him a sensation both on and off the pitch, with viral moments like his expression of love for “Chippy chips” further boosting his popularity. Teammates have embraced the viral clip, with Noni Madueke revealing he nicknamed Palmer “Chippy Man.” However, Palmer, who is also known as “Cold” for his iconic shivering celebration, isn’t too fond of the moniker.

Speaking to Ben Foster for Amazon Prime Video, Madueke said: “The thing about Palmer is he genuinely loves football so much. I feel like he could spend all day kicking a ball around. As for the nickname, it’s ‘Chippy Man.’ I call him that all the time. He gets angry, but it’s calm. That’s him—Chippy chips. He’ll be fuming when he hears this!”

Palmer isn’t the only one handing out nicknames. Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who Palmer dubbed “Beetroot” due to his fondness for the vegetable, returned the favor by calling Palmer “Beans” because of his love for the food.

Explaining the nickname, Petrovic said: “Sometimes we eat lunch together, and I always have beetroot, so Cole called me Beetroot. I needed a name for him, and since he eats a lot of beans, which I think is normal for English people, I call him Beans. I know others call him Cold Palmer, but for me, he’s Beans.”
