Luis Díaz delivers a bold transfer statement to Liverpool as Mohamed Salah’s contract negotiations continue.

Luis Díaz insists that regardless of Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool, he already plays alongside a forward with the potential to become “the best striker” in the game.

The Colombian winger is enjoying a strong season, having scored 11 goals in 23 appearances, including a brace in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham before Christmas. Díaz has solidified his place in Arne Slot’s team, earning the trust of fans and becoming a key figure in Liverpool’s attack, led impressively by Salah as the Reds dominate both the Premier League and Champions League.

In an interview with ESPN, Díaz praised his Colombian teammate Jhon Durán, who has scored 12 goals in 25 matches this season, including a goal in Aston Villa’s recent win over Manchester City. Díaz highlighted Durán’s talent and potential, stating:

“From the first day I met him and saw him play, I knew the qualities he possessed. I said that if he focuses, he can achieve greatness and become a historic figure in his position. He has what it takes to be the best striker.

“It’s great to see him thriving in such a competitive league. I’m very happy for him. He’s a calm and humble individual who is eager to learn and improve. I’m confident he will continue to score goals and make Colombia proud.”

Díaz’s comments could influence Liverpool’s plans for reinforcing their attack, especially as uncertainty looms over Salah’s contract and Darwin Núñez’s long-term role. Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has also advocated for the club to monitor Durán, suggesting his physical presence and style of play would be a valuable addition to

the team.
