David Ornstein has shared a fresh update on Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United, hinting at what could be his next career move.

Rashford has been left out of Ruben Amorim’s last three matchday squads, fueling intense transfer speculation. The 27-year-old forward recently expressed his readiness for “a new challenge,” sparking links to several clubs, including rumors of a sensational swap deal that has reportedly been “greenlit.”

However, Ornstein suggests a loan move might be a more practical option given Rashford’s lack of game time and high wages. He notes that a January transfer is unlikely, with a summer move appearing to be a more realistic outcome.

A loan deal could provide Rashford the opportunity to “get back on track” and “rebuild his value” before his long-term future is reassessed next summer. Ornstein also points out that such an arrangement might allow the acquiring club to avoid covering his full salary.

Manchester United have previously benefited from similar loan deals for players like Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood, who moved temporarily to Borussia Dortmund and Getafe, respectively, before securing permanent transfers.

While there’s no indication United are actively pursuing a loan for Rashford, Ornstein suggests it’s a situation to monitor as the transfer window approaches.

Rashford, who has made 27 appearances this season, hasn’t played since the Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen. Despite his eagerness to return, Amorim emphasized his decisions are based on what’s best for the team.

Amorim explained:

“Yeah, it’s my decision. He wants to play and is trying. When I feel it’s the right moment, I’ll make a change. Until then, I’ll focus on what’s best for the team.

“I’ve spoken to many players individually during training. I’m doing things my way—it’s the only way I know. If I don’t, I’ll lose myself, and that’s not something I’m willing to do. I know

what I’m doing.”
