Real Madrid plan a surprising move for a Premier League defender that no one in the football world would have predicted.

Real Madrid have reportedly identified another unexpected Premier League player as a priority transfer target, in a move few could have predicted.

With just five days until the transfer window reopens, clubs worldwide will soon have the opportunity to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season.

As usual, Real Madrid are expected to be active in the January market. Alongside targeting high-profile players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies, the Spanish giants are reportedly exploring a surprising option—Bournemouth’s young center-back, Dean Huijsen.

According to AS, Real Madrid see Huijsen as a potential key addition to their defense, which has been weakened by injuries to David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao, as well as Nacho Fernandez’s summer departure.

The 19-year-old Dutch defender, who holds dual nationality and grew up in Marbella, joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer for £15.3m, including add-ons. Since then, he has impressed in 13 appearances across the Premier League and Carabao Cup. However, his performances mean Bournemouth would likely demand a significant fee to let him go.

Real Madrid have monitored Huijsen for years and believe now might be the ideal moment to act. However, concerns remain. The club is unsure if Huijsen is ready to become a first-team regular, while the player is reluctant to accept a role that could hinder his development.
