Viktor Gyokeres has turned down the possibility of moving to Manchester United, showing no interest in joining the club.
Sporting Lisbon’s star striker Viktor Gyokeres could reportedly pass on a potential reunion with manager Ruben Amorim at Manchester United next summer. The Swedish forward has been in outstanding form for the Portuguese side, scoring 63 goals across 66 matches in all competitions.
This season alone, Gyokeres has netted 23 times in just 17 appearances, recently making headlines with a hat-trick against Manchester City. The Times reports that he could be available for around £63 million at season’s end, but there’s uncertainty if United can convince him to make the switch.
With United’s recent struggles to progress, Gyokeres may favor a move to other top-tier clubs with strong title chances. Arsenal and Liverpool are seen as frontrunners to land the former Brighton & Hove Albion forward, while Chelsea is also monitoring his situation. Like United, however, Chelsea may need Champions League qualification to strengthen their appeal for Gyokeres.
