Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly informed Liverpool that he will not sign a new contract and plans to join Real Madrid, according to Spanish reports.

The right-back’s future has been a significant topic of discussion as his current deal approaches its final six months. Having risen through Liverpool’s ranks and enjoyed immense success, Alexander-Arnold now appears ready for a new challenge. Marca reports that the 26-year-old has told Liverpool’s management of his intention to leave for Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

Alexander-Arnold is among three key players, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts expire at the end of the season. Real Madrid, the reigning Champions League holders, are reportedly prepared to discuss terms once the January transfer window opens. However, Liverpool prefer to keep him for the remainder of the season to aid their pursuit of silverware, even if it means losing him on a free in the summer.
