Manchester City are reportedly considering Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina as a potential replacement for Kyle Walker. At 34, Walker’s age is becoming a factor, prompting City to explore younger options to refresh their squad. Aina, a former Chelsea academy player, has been a standout performer for Forest, who have exceeded expectations this season.

Signed on a free transfer from Torino last year, the 28-year-old has impressed at the City Ground. With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Forest are eager to secure his future. However, Aina’s versatility—capable of playing on either flank—may make a move to City difficult to resist, especially under Pep Guardiola’s management.

Walker, once a key figure at City, has seen reduced playing time recently. While his pace was crucial during City’s dominant years, his performances have dipped. Guardiola, who has committed to another season, is keen to address the team’s current struggles, as City endures its worst run of form in nearly two decades and battles to stay in the top four.

Beyond Aina, City is also linked to other targets, including Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. Baleba, signed by Brighton for £23 million from Lille, has impressed, but City would need to pay a significant fee to land him. Zubimendi, who replaced Rodri in Spain’s Euro 2024 final victory, is another option but would also command a high price.
