Aaron Wan-Bissaka discusses Man Utd struggles: “I had no one but my PlayStation to rely on.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka recently reflected on his challenging time at Manchester United, describing how he initially felt isolated, with his PlayStation as his only company. Now playing for West Ham, Wan-Bissaka returned to London last summer in a £15 million move after five years at Old Trafford, where he made 190 appearances following his £45 million transfer.

The 26-year-old, who made his debut with Crystal Palace in 2017, found it difficult to adapt to United amid the club’s turbulent period. Originally signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he later played under Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag, but he admits he lacked support when he moved from London at 21.

In an interview with the Standard, Wan-Bissaka said, “It was tough, really tough. Moving [to Manchester] alone for the first time was hard. I only had my PlayStation there, and it became exhausting. I realized it wasn’t the best approach. I eventually adapted, though.”

Since joining Julen Lopetegui’s squad at West Ham, Wan-Bissaka has quickly become an integral player. He expressed his happiness about the move, sharing with the club’s website how he missed the London lifestyle, being close to friends, family, and the familiar environment. He added, “Everyone was thrilled I was back in London, and I felt the support from so many people.”

Wan-Bissaka also spoke about Lopetegui’s vision for the club, which motivated his decision to join. He explained, “The coach has a clear plan for this club and the players. It’s really exciting.”

The right-back is set to play in a crucial match against Everton, with both teams struggling near the relegation zone after 10 games in the 2024/25 season.
