Bruno Fernandes gave a candid and direct post-match interview after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, which quickly went viral.

Bruno Fernandes’ interview after Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool has gone viral, with fans praising the captain’s candidness. Following United’s fourth consecutive defeat to Newcastle United on December 30, many feared the worst against league leaders Liverpool. However, United responded with an improved performance at Anfield, taking the lead through Lisandro Martinez before Liverpool turned it around with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah. Amad Diallo’s equalizer ensured a fair result for United, who climbed to 13th in the table, seven points above the relegation zone.

Fernandes spoke honestly to Sky Sports after the match, expressing his frustration that his team can’t produce such performances every week. He acknowledged the team’s poor form, saying, “Obviously we’ve been criticised, and fairly, because the position in the table says it all. We’ve lost too many points. Even today, we can’t be happy with the draw, because we need points more than they need.”

While praising both teams’ performances, he added, “It’s a really good result and a fair result, both teams played good football and it was intense. I’m pretty upset because we can show this against Liverpool at Anfield, first in the league, the outstanding team in the Premier League this season, why can’t we do this every week?”

Fernandes also admitted his personal dissatisfaction with his season so far, saying, “It frustrates me, first because I think finally I did a proper performance overall. We need to be aware that we need much more from ourselves to get something from this season. We need to put some pride out because it isn’t enough for us.”

United will next face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, hoping to defend the title they won by beating Manchester City las

t year.
