Jamie Carragher reacts after Mo Salah claims he is “obsessed” with him.
Jamie Carragher has responded to Mohamed Salah’s remarks accusing him of being “obsessed” with him, following ongoing tensions between the pundit and the Liverpool star. Carragher recently criticized Salah’s public handling of contract negotiations, with the forward repeatedly stating that he and the club remain far apart in discussions.
Salah, whose contract expires in the summer alongside those of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, posted a cryptic tweet on Monday featuring the trio. When asked about it, Carragher suggested Salah and Alexander-Arnold could learn from Van Dijk’s more private approach to contract talks. This led Salah to comment on Carragher’s supposed fixation, tweeting: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me.”
In response, during Monday Night Football, Carragher admitted to having an “obsession” with Salah but clarified it was purely about football:
“I do have a Mo Salah obsession. But it’s not the kind he thinks—it’s a footballing obsession. Watching him play in a red shirt is something special. I answer questions as honestly as I can and try to be fair. I’m not here to criticise Salah or Alexander-Arnold; I’m just impressed with how Van Dijk has handled things.”
Carragher also responded directly to Salah on Twitter, joking: “I’ve always been obsessed with you. Hopefully, that obsession continues next season.”
Meanwhile, Salah remains pivotal for Liverpool. He scored his 18th Premier League goal in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United, maintaining his spot at the top of the league’s goals and assists charts, which has been vital in securing Liverpool’s six-point lead in the tit
le race.
