Martin Zubimendi set to join a Premier League club in a remarkable £51 million transfer.

Martin Zubimendi is reportedly set to join a Premier League club at the end of the season, with Arsenal prepared to trigger his £51 million release clause, according to The Daily Mail.

The Real Sociedad midfielder has been the focus of intense transfer speculation following his impressive displays in La Liga. Liverpool attempted to sign the Spanish international last summer but were unsuccessful, while Arsenal’s interest in the 25-year-old has been ongoing for over a year. Talks over a summer move are now said to be at an advanced stage.

Although Arsenal would prefer to sign Zubimendi immediately, Sociedad insist he remains with the team until the season concludes. This follows Zubimendi’s decision to stay in Spain last summer, despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester City, who also explored a move after Rodri’s season-ending injury.

When asked in October about rejecting Liverpool, Zubimendi stated: “I don’t regret it. I made the decision because I believed it was the best for me. Results don’t influence that; I see potential in this team, and I’m excited about the season.”
