A Liverpool scout travels to Germany to finalize a deal after the club fails to secure Martin Zubimendi’s transfer.
Liverpool have dispatched a scout to Germany to finalize a significant transfer just hours after Arsenal announced the signing of Martin Zubimendi.
Over the summer, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot had aimed to make a statement by securing the highly-rated Real Sociedad midfielder. Despite initial indications that Zubimendi would remain at his boyhood club and turn down Liverpool, the Spaniard has now reportedly agreed to a sensational move to Arsenal.
In response, Liverpool has acted swiftly, sending chief scout Barry Hunter to Nuremberg to negotiate a transfer for Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas, according to Anfield Watch. The 19-year-old, currently on loan at FC Nürnberg from PAOK, has impressed with eight goals and two assists in 15 appearances this season.
Reports suggest Liverpool is prepared to offer around £25 million for Tzimas, who is reportedly open to the move. However, any deal hinges on the potential sale of Darwin Núñez, with speculation linking the Uruguayan striker to a Saudi Pro League club this month.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the interest from Saudi Arabia, stating, “There is genuine interest in Darwin Núñez, but negotiations are still in the early stages. Liverpool views Núñez as an important player, and a deal is far from advanced.”
