Pep Guardiola’s actions toward Stefan Ortega on the pitch right after the Man City vs. Brentford match have left fans shocked.

Pep Guardiola’s interaction with goalkeeper Stefan Ortega immediately after Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with Brentford left fans surprised.

City had been on course to move into the top four thanks to Phil Foden’s brace, but a late equalizer from Christian Norgaard denied them the win. The Danish midfielder scored with a header, which Ortega managed to get both hands on but could only deflect into the corner of the net. The result, combined with Chelsea’s draw against Bournemouth, meant City remained in sixth place.

Guardiola, visibly frustrated, entered the pitch and confronted Ortega. He initially put his arm around the goalkeeper in a firm, almost aggressive manner before shouting at him multiple times. As they walked towards the dressing room, he patted Ortega on the back of his head, continuing the animated exchange.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Guardiola expressed disappointment over failing to secure the victory:

“We are disappointed because we were 2-0 up and didn’t manage before the 2-1. After that, we managed well, but they put a lot of players in the box. We’re not strong there with the options we have. Unfortunately, we couldn’t close the game. We didn’t make the right decisions in the final third.”

He added: “The people up front were brilliant, but we needed to attack the keeper more and commit a bit more. It’s not a nice place to come, but we didn’t win – it is what it is. We need to manage better, but today was n
