Speaking in Friday’s press conference, Slot said, “He wasn’t on the training ground yesterday, so we’ll have to see where he is today. It’s not certain he’ll be available tomorrow. He felt a little discomfort during his 30 minutes on the pitch but managed to finish the game. However, he complained about it afterward, which is why he missed training.”

Diaz, who sat out training due to a sore throat, is more likely to feature. “I assume he’ll be available,” Slot said. “He wasn’t out yesterday because of a sore throat, but I expect him to train today. I still need confirmation, but I’m optimistic.”

Jota’s absence could open up opportunities for others. If Diaz recovers, he may retain his spot in the starting XI. Otherwise, Nunez, fresh off suspension, could return to lead the attack, with Federico Chiesa and Jayden Danns among the other options.
