Manchester United’s potential deal to sign Patrick Dorgu could pave the way for Liverpool to secure Arne Slot’s preferred transfer target.

According to David Ornstein and The Athletic, United have initiated talks with Serie A club Lecce over the signing of the 20-year-old left wing-back. Dorgu, regarded as one of the top young talents in world football, attracted interest from multiple clubs during the 2024 summer transfer window. Ornstein’s report suggests that negotiations are progressing, with Ruben Amorim eager to add players that fit his tactical system.

Dorgu, a natural left wing-back who can also play on the right, would bring versatility and value to United. The Danish prospect has impressed this season with three goals in 20 Serie A appearances, showcasing his attacking capabilities.

If United complete the signing of Dorgu, it is expected to end their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, potentially leaving Liverpool with a clear path to the Hungarian star.
