Manchester United are looking to strengthen another crucial position in addition to targeting Patrick Dorgu, with a four-player shortlist under consideration.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to address another key position in the January transfer window alongside their pursuit of Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, United are in talks to sign Dorgu, a versatile Denmark international who primarily plays as a left wing-back but can also operate on the right. Valued at £42 million, the 20-year-old is a teammate of Rasmus Højlund and Christian Eriksen at the international level. If a deal is finalized, Dorgu would be the first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim.

However, reports suggest United are also targeting a striker before the window closes. The Daily Mail claims the club has a four-man shortlist for the position, including three Premier League players: Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Matheus Cunha (Wolves), and Liam Delap (Ipswich Town). Lille’s Jonathan David is also under consideration. Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions could complicate United’s plans, requiring the sale of a current player to fund additional transfers.

German outlet BILD reports that Borussia Dortmund are leading the race to sign Marcus Rashford on loan, with the club prepared to cover over £6 million of his salary. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move to Napoli, with conflicting valuations ranging from £55 million to over £80 million. Napoli are seeking a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, recently sold to Paris Saint-Germain for £63 million.

Manager Ruben Amorim previously downplayed the likelihood of significant transfer activity in January, citing financial constraints. He stated in December: “We don’t have that possibility in January… You know the situation better than I. It’s not the case that I can spend a lot of money, changing the entire

team.”
