“Yes, the offer came in late, but I’m eager to move on. I’ll say goodbye to the fans this weekend.” Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has decided on his future after receiving an £8.5m offer to depart the club.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has rejected an offer from Flamengo, with negotiations over a potential move now stalled.

Since joining from Chelsea in 2023, the 33-year-old has made 70 appearances across all competitions and has become a trusted member of Mikel Arteta’s squad, offering leadership both on and off the pitch.

However, Jorginho has struggled for consistent game time this season, starting just six Premier League matches. Frustrated with his limited role, the Italy international has been exploring other options.

Palmeiras have shown interest recently, but no formal offer has been made. Flamengo, considered frontrunners for his signature, reportedly offered Jorginho a three-year deal worth €10m (£8.5m). However, the Euro 2020 winner is holding out for a deal closer to €13m (£11m) over the same period.

With talks at a standstill and no progress in recent days, Jorginho has yet to discuss a potential January exit with Arsenal. Meanwhile, the Gunners remain hopeful of securing a contract extension, as Arteta values Jorginho’s experience and influence in the

squad.
