Marcus Rashford’s departure from Manchester United to Aston Villa has been confirmed, with new details shedding light on the real reason behind his exit.
After being left out of the squad for December’s Manchester derby by incoming manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford has struggled for game time, making his last United appearance in a Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen on December 12. Since then, he has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Now, sources reveal that Rashford believes he was forced out of United, pointing the finger at new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old has agreed to join Villa on a loan deal with an option to buy, enticed by the prospect of playing under Unai Emery and competing in the Champions League.
However, a United insider told The Sun that Rashford feels he had no real choice but to leave after Ratcliffe allegedly pushed Amorim to offload him.
“Marcus thinks Sir Jim wants him gone and has instructed Amorim to push him out,” the source claimed. “He feels singled out. During early training sessions under Amorim, multiple players struggled to adapt, but Marcus received the harshest criticism.”
Rashford is also said to be surprised that no major club has made a strong push to sign him permanently.
The rift between Rashford and Amorim reportedly began when the manager accused the forward of breaking club discipline by going on a night out before United’s match against Everton on December 1.
“Amorim called him in and claimed he had gone out, but Marcus denied it, insisting he had done nothing wrong. He even asked for proof and questioned, ‘Are you calling me a liar?’” the source revealed.
Their relationship never recovered from that confrontation, making Rashford’s
