Unlike the summer, the Blues remained relatively quiet during the winter transfer window, opting against new signings and instead focusing on departures. Key players like Ben Chilwell, Joao Felix, and Axel Disasi were sent out on loan, while several young talents were sold.

However, it now appears that Enzo Maresca is planning significant transfers for the summer of 2025. According to a new report, he has set his sights on a top Liverpool player.

On Thursday night, Liverpool secured a spot in the 2025 Carabao Cup final with a dominant 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their semi-final, winning 4-1 on aggregate.

A crucial figure in their domestic cup campaign has been Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has consistently started in goal. His strong performances have attracted interest, with TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, reporting that Chelsea is among the clubs keen on signing the 26-year-old this summer.

Despite being a reliable option for Liverpool, Kelleher is expected to leave Anfield after the club signed Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili last year. With Mamardashvili set to return from his loan at Sevilla, Kelleher is likely to move on, and Chelsea is reportedly considering him as a solution to their goalkeeping issues.

Throughout the season, Maresca has struggled to find a consistent No.1, with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen failing to impress. Kelleher, who has previously stated his ambition to become a first-choice goalkeeper, could be an ideal option for Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in a press conference while on Republic of Ireland duty in September, Kelleher said:

“I made it clear in the last few years that I want to go somewhere and be a number one. The club has made the decision to bring in a goalkeeper (Mamardashvili), which suggests they are heading in a different direction. Liverpool have also rejected a few bids, so it’s not always in my hands. My ambition is clear. I believe I’m good enough and want to play week in, week out.”

However, Chelsea faces competition for Kelleher’s signature, with Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and Celtic also reportedly interested in signing

him this summer.
