Ruud van Nistelrooy explains his decision regarding Alejandro Garnacho’s involvement for Manchester United in the match against Leicester.

Manchester United face Leicester on Sunday, marking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game as interim manager.

Van Nistelrooy opted to start Alejandro Garnacho on the bench for this match to give him a rest, allowing Amad to start due to his strong recent performances. United recently beat Leicester 5-2 at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup, and they meet again in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

For his last game as interim manager, van Nistelrooy has made three changes to the lineup, with Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Marcus Rashford returning. Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Garnacho are on the bench, while Amad retains his starting position after an impressive Europa League showing.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the match, van Nistelrooy said, “Amad looked really sharp in the last game. It’s also about managing minutes, so we decided it’s good for Alejandro to come off the bench today and be fresh for later in the game. Marcus played 30 minutes on Thursday, so he’s relatively fresh too.”

Van Nistelrooy praised Leicester’s structured, possession-based style, noting their strong wingers and consistent tactics.
