Jurgen Klopp reveals the biggest disappointment he experienced at Liverpool in his Anfield reflection.

Jurgen Klopp’s time at Liverpool has come to an end, but with the release of a new documentary, many are looking back on his successful tenure at the club.

The Amazon Prime Video four-part series, Doubters to Believers: Liverpool FC – Klopp’s Era, features the German manager reflecting on his journey, including his thoughts when he first took the job at Anfield.

Klopp recalled a moment from a 2014 friendly at Anfield while managing Borussia Dortmund, which gave him an early glimpse of what would later become his home:

“There are all these crazy things, like people tracking flights, and you don’t think of yourself as someone people would be interested in. But at that moment, I was also really disappointed because I suddenly remembered—‘Oh my god, I forgot how bad the dressing rooms are!’ And I don’t like bad dressing rooms.”

Spoken with his trademark grin, it’s safe to say Klopp was pleased to see the dressing rooms revamped during his time at the club.

Reflecting on Klopp’s legacy may feel strange right now, but with Liverpool not playing this weekend, it seems like an ideal moment to appreciate his influence. Had Arne Slot’s side struggled recently or been preparing for an FA Cup clash against Manchester City, this documentary might have felt like an untimely distraction.

Instead, it provides a perfect opportunity to celebrate a manager who will forever be loved by Liverpool fans—perhaps even more than by those in Germany. With much of the current squad signed under his leadership and Mohamed Salah admitting he still keeps in touch with him, Klopp’s presence is still deeply felt at the club.

While his successor will rightfully receive praise, if Liverpool wins the Premier League this season, Klopp’s impact—both on the team’s success and maybe even the dressing rooms—will never be forgotten.
