Premier League defender who departed Liverpool in August confesses he ‘dreams’ of returning to Anfield.

A former Liverpool defender who departed the club in August has revealed that he ‘dreams’ of returning to Anfield as a player one day.

Sepp van den Berg, who joined Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in 2019, made just four first-team appearances before leaving permanently for Brentford in a £25m deal last summer (BBC Sport) following multiple loan spells.

The 23-year-old has featured 25 times for the West London club across all competitions this season and is relishing the opportunity to play regular football.

However, in an interview with Voetbal Primeur (as relayed by @DaveOCKOP on X), the Dutch defender admitted that his ultimate ‘dream’ is to play for Liverpool again in the future.

It’s notable that Arne Slot and his staff were keen to keep him at the club, but from van den Berg’s perspective, securing consistent game time elsewhere was a logical decision.

With injuries to Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley, Liverpool could certainly use additional defensive options at the moment.
