New manager Arne Slot has enjoyed a fantastic season so far, stepping into the challenging role of replacing the beloved Jürgen Klopp. The Reds currently lead the Premier League title race, holding a 13-point advantage over Arsenal with 11 matches remaining. In Europe, they are among the frontrunners for the UEFA Champions League, though they face a tough last-16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite their impressive campaign, uncertainty looms over the futures of several Liverpool stars. Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract this summer, with no new agreements in place. Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

In addition to targeting the right-back, Real Madrid are reportedly interested in centre-back Ibrahima Konaté. The 25-year-old’s contract runs until 2026, but the Daily Mail claims Madrid’s interest is “very real,” with club president Florentino Pérez eager to bring him to Spain. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring Konaté’s situation.
Liverpool and Konaté’s representatives began contract discussions last year, but a new deal is reportedly far from being agreed. If the Frenchman departs, Ecuadorian defender Joel Ordóñez of Club Brugge has emerged as a possible replacement. The 20-year-old has been a standout performer in Brugge’s Champions League campaign, though his team fell 3-1 to Aston Villa in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie.
Liverpool aren’t the only Premier League club interested in Ordóñez, with Aston Villa and Everton also tracking him.
Following their Champions League clash against PSG on Wednesday, Liverpool return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon against Southampton at Anfield.
