Sky Sports drops a major evening contract update that impacts Liverpool.

Joshua Kimmich now appears more likely to remain at Bayern Munich after positive progress in contract talks, according to Sky Germany.

The midfielder, previously linked with a summer move away from the Bundesliga giants, is now expected to extend his stay in Germany. Journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on X (formerly Twitter) that after fresh discussions, all parties are open to a contract extension beyond 2025, with final details still being negotiated.

Liverpool and several top European clubs had been on high alert after reports emerged that Bayern had withdrawn their initial contract offer. With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Kimmich had seemed poised for an exit after nearly a decade at the club.

Despite turning 30, he remains a key player, having made 37 appearances this season, providing 10 assists, and logging nearly 3,300 minutes in all competitions. Arsenal have also been linked with him recently, and if he were to leave, competition for his signature would be intense.

Speaking about his future after Bayern’s win over Leverkusen, Kimmich acknowledged the uncertainty but confirmed a decision would be made soon. He explained that he initially wanted to decide before the international break, but Bayern preferred to wait. While an injury slightly delayed discussions, he assured that a resolution would come before the international break at the latest.
