Liverpool fans have been reassured that the club plans to be active in the upcoming summer transfer window, with several key areas needing reinforcement. This remains true even without considering potential contract uncertainties surrounding Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mo Salah.

With the market set to open on June 12, Liverpool are keeping an eye on potential opportunities. According to CaughtOffside, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is expected to be available for transfer, with the French winger no longer a key figure in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

Liverpool Monitoring Coman but No Talks Yet

The report suggests that Liverpool, along with Tottenham and Newcastle, are monitoring Coman’s situation. However, no formal discussions have taken place with the 28-year-old, whose contract with Bayern runs until 2027.

Coman could be available for as little as €45m (£37.5m), potentially making him a cost-effective signing. New sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously oversaw the acquisition of Federico Chiesa in 2024, may see Coman as a similar value deal.

However, given Liverpool’s depth on the left wing with Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, any potential move for Coman may depend on an outgoing transfer.

Coman Not a Priority Signing for Liverpool

While Liverpool have been linked with Coman in the past, their primary focus this summer may lie elsewhere—particularly if Salah departs. Losing the Egyptian forward would leave a significant void, with his goal contributions far surpassing those of Coman.

Statistics show that Coman’s 10 goal contributions in 32 games fall well short of Salah’s 52, making him an unlikely direct replacement. Instead, Liverpool may prioritize signing a younger, more prolific attacker to take on Salah’s goalscoring responsibilities.

That said, should Luis Diaz leave for Barcelona, Coman could serve as a useful backup for Gakpo. However, the club’s primary summer target is likely to be a high-caliber forward capable of making an immediate impact.
