Exclusive: Liverpool preparing initial offer for Premier League striker who is ‘keen’ on Anfield switch
Liverpool Preparing Opening Bid for Brighton Striker Joao Pedro, Who’s Open to Anfield Move
Liverpool are set to make an initial transfer offer for Brighton forward Joao Pedro, who is open to joining the Reds. The 23-year-old Brazilian has been in impressive form, scoring 27 goals since his £30m switch from Watford in 2023, including a recent three-game scoring streak.
According to sources close to Empire of the Kop, Liverpool see Pedro as a potential alternative to Darwin Núñez, who has been linked with a departure. The club values Pedro’s versatility, as he can operate as a centre-forward, winger, or second striker.
Liverpool are expected to test Brighton’s resolve with an opening bid of €50m (£42m), though negotiations with the Seagulls are typically challenging. The striker’s availability may depend on Brighton’s European qualification and their ability to reject a lucrative offer.
However, Liverpool face competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and PSG, all of whom are also monitoring Pedro.
With Newcastle’s Alexander Isak reportedly a top target but commanding a potential £150m fee, Pedro represents a more affordable option. His Premier League goal record and standout underlying stats—ranking among Europe’s top forwards in key metrics like assists, progressive passing, and dribbling—make him an attractive prospect.
Liverpool previously secured Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for an initial £35m. Could they strike another deal for Pedro this summer?
